Anika means "sweet faced" in the African language. She definitely has that. She is very alert, smart and loves activity. She has a big prey drive and spends part of her day chasing birds out of the yard. Now in Florida she loves to hunt and sadly eat the geckos. I'm sure she thinks they taste like chicken. She has also found the occasional opossum and cat. She has a great attitude and loves to be around people. She loves snuggling at night if you are one of "her people".

We are pretty proud of Anika for earning her HCT (Herding Capability Test) at the Cascade Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club herding event on May 10, 2015.
The HCT test is to show if a dog has the instinct to herd sheep and Anika showed us she does. She had a blast herding the sheep and acted like she didn't want to stop.
It's always so fun to watch them see the sheep for the first time and rather amazing to see their brain click like they have done this all their life.
She will need more lessons if we continue with the herding but it is nice to know she had fun and has the old instincts as her ancestors did.
Anika's second litter born January 3, 2014!

The above picture is of Anika and our other dogs. Anika is the third from the left. She is fast asleep. We were replacing the floors in the house. As you can see they were all pretty worried about all the noise. HaHaHa. The pictures at the bottom of the page are of Anika at her home.
